The fact is a start up or small business model will most always comprise of three key components, the front office, the mid office and the back office. Whilst this could be perceived as an over simplistic segregation it helps to explain why purchasing small business accounting software will almost certainly create issues downstream as the business expands and grows. To be clear the front office can be defined as the “customer facing” element of the business, it is here that the customer is sold to and serviced. Naturally there is a need for technology that enables customer facing employees to capture and maintain accurate records about activities and interactions between the business and its prospects and customers. Small business accounting software doesn’t normally include functionality to accommodate this activity.
