Lanyards, Franchise Promotions

What an essentially odd thing a lanyard is! Originally a lanyard was part of a soldier’s uniform. Officers had lanyards as part of their uniforms. The lanyard was a thin leather strap usually worn around the shoulder and the end of the lanyard was attached to a revolver of sorts or for non-commissioned officers a whistle. Today, the lanyard is made of material and usually embroidered with the logo or name of a company using the lanyard as promotional material. Now in some companies the lanyard is used a part of the franchise uniform, according to my local Lawyer of Franchise.
