After a lifetime of being surrounded by art and artists  my fiancé and I began the daunting task of seeking out new york city wedding photographers who could fulfill our wish of having gorgeous documentary style photography work of our wedding day.

Our decision to have choosen this particular artist was almost made before we even saw her portfolio. Having already seen and fallen in love with her website, we met at her cozy apartment in lower Manhattan.  Truly, it was Angela’s charm and exuberance that outshone her work itself. But in the end, it was her portfolio that solidified our conviction. As it turned out, this wonderful artist surpassed our greatest expectations.

You know, it’s so funny having kids in college. Even though they pride themselves on being so independent, all three of them do the exact same thing when they come home during breaks. They bring their dirty laundry, they burn lots of music from our Ares free download, and they sleep a lot and watch TV! My wife and I silently chuckle at our “independent” adult children, and enjoy having them back home, doing the same things they did in high school. I can hardly wait until they have kids of their own, and see how fun (and funny) having kids can be.

Last night I was searching for a new 17 inch LCD screen Dell monitor. My old monitor is out of warranty and has an annoying line going across the bottom of the screen. After only searching for two hours I found a website that has incredible prices. I wound up buying my monitor from this company. After completing the purchase online I went to a website that I had seen  earlier in the day. This website had to do with getting a rock guitar lesson. I recently had been considering taking lessons in guitar. It’s always been a sort of dream of mine.

Last year, my two eldest childre, Jack and Sarah clubbed together and bought me special card making kit for my birthday. Because my birthday is so close to Christmas, I didn’y get chance to do anything with as I was busy arranging the festive activities as usual.

Since Christmas I have joined a craft club which is held fortnightly at the community centre. I attended the club two nights ago and took the card making kit with me to show to the other members.

Everyone who saw it was impressed and said the quality was unbelievably good, which is not always the case with boxed sets. This week I am going to make up some of the cards at home and take them to the club meeting in two weeks in order to get some feedback on the finished greeting cards.

My friend was telling me about this awesome party he went to the other night. It wasn’t an ordinary party, it was organized by his city’s rotary club, so it was more like a marketing party than anything else. The guy that runs the local music store was there, and he was offering anybody that wanted on a free acoustic guitar lesson. He actually brought a bunch of guitars, and other instruments as well, that people cold practice on. There was also a couple chiropractors there that were giving free massages. No wonder it was such an awesome party. I wish I had been invited. Oh well, maybe next time.

Born in 1902, my grandmother had outlived many of her friends, my grandfather, and even (sadly) a sister (my aunt.) She would listen to the radio and clap at the end of each fictitious, scripted program that was acted out by actors,a s was teh style of the time. She never owned a television: “Nonsense” she called it, but did have the radio or a record playing all day. She had a library in a wing of her home. The wall of her stairwell was tightly tiled with black and white family photographs, all stately and elegant, in gorgeous hand cared frames and all reminiscent of eremarks and palpable happiness.

Her betrothed, my grandfather, wore a top hat and tails, and her dress was simple and plain, not frouffy or complex, as they tend to be today. I miss these days when we all sat together like this. But I still have the album, and it means more to me than anything I own.
