How to Become a Licensed Realtor in Texas
There are steps to becoming a real estate agent in Texas.
1) Take the required classes at an approved real estate school. Real estate schools currently approved by the Texas Real Estate Commission include.
2) You must be at least 18 years old, a citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted alien, a legal Texas resident, and you must successfully complete the required education programs to obtain a real estate license.
3) After completing the education requirements, submit a request for Evaluation of Education Documents along with copies of your transcripts.
4) After you receive a letter from the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) approving your education requirements, you must submit an application for your real estate license along with the letter from TREC and an application fee of $69.50.
5) Schedule to take the Texas Salesperson Real Estate Exam after receiving the Candidate Information Brochure from TREC. The exam is $59.
6) After passing the Texas Salesperson Exam, arrange for a licensed Texas real estate broker to sponsor you as a salesperson. Once all the licensing requirements have been satisfied, TREC will send an active salesperson license to the broker.
A real esate agent is a realtor when he or she pays an annual fee to be a member of the National Association of Realtors and subscribe to its Code of Ethics.
