Grand Canyon Sky Walk
The Hualapai tribe of Arizona embarked on a building project to generate income for their tribe and at the same time created an amazing tourist attraction. The result is the Grand Canyon Sky Walk. Construction of this incredible structure commenced in 2004 and was opened by elders of the tribe in March 2007. Buzz Aldrin (well known astronaut of NASA’s moon mission) was also part of the group that opened this remarkable bridge and in fact took the first steps on its walkway.
The Sky Walk is horse shoe in shape and is 1 mile above the Colorado River. The walkway which covers a distance of 70 feet is made totally from clear glass so that the full awe-inspiring effect of the canyon below can be captured.
