Is Fencing Dangerous?
My son is interested in learning to fence, and I am wondering how safe it would be for him. I know they sell various safety equipment as a part of the fencing equipment available, but thinking of him using “swords” and the like just worries me. Even if they aren’t sharp, I’m sure they still hurt if you get hit with them, and could do damage if you get poked hard with them, especially if not wearing some kind of face mask. How common are fencing injuries? I know all sports have some risk, I just want to know how fencing compares to some of the other sports in regards to injuries.
