Who founded the Riddell running shoes
A small company that started out as a football boot manufacturer is the Riddell running shoes. The running shoes in the range include the Riddell Madison, Riddell Charger, Riddell Escalade and the Riddell Rival. John T. Riddell founded the company, after he was the head football coach and athletic director at a school. During this time, he invented and developed the removable football cleat. He approached many shoe factories for support before the J.P. Smith Shoe Company agreed to help make the basic shoe. By 1927 he had enough faith in his removable cleat design that he quit his high school job. He managed to convince some of the J.P. Smith employees to leave and founded the Riddell Corporation in 1929.
