A change at our electric company offices
Up until recently our local electric company employed a rather old-fashioned customer call handling system — you know the kind: you listen to the various menu selections and then make your response by punching in the numbers on your telephone. Our local utility company found that that wasn’t working — simply because many people were contacting them when their lights were out so they could not see to punch in all those numbers! So they made a switch to a newer voice recognition system so now all you have to do is speak into your phone and the system will know how to automatically handle your call.
